Game is but a Dream
Alright, so this morning I woke up after having a really incredible and vivid dream about an idea for a new game. I know, it takes a lot of bravery to share an idea publicly on the Internet, but that's half the point of Draagon.net's existence, so I'm going to get over myself and just share. Here is what the dream was like: it was a kind of take on the Old West, with a cowboy named Oatie as the hero. He's made entirely of oatmeal -- plain oatmeal at first, but over the course of the game he gathers various additions that make him stronger, like berries, pieces of apple, raisins, bananas, and nuts. If Oatie finds a strawberry, for instance, he can do double damage during the 30 second period that follows because of the increase in glucose supplied by the berry. But if he finds a banana, it makes him impervious to attacks for three rounds and let's him double up on other fruits he has accumulated, using their powers in special combination strikes.
Oatie has a partner, Quinoata, his Native American counterpart who is a whole grain with extra special powers, since he contains what is nutritionally known as a complete protein. His special powers allow him to do certain power-ups and attacks that no other character in the game can accomplish. He has what is sort of like a mana meter, and although his powers are certainly natural in nature, he can raise up his arms to the sky when at full mana, and wipe out all enemies within a 50' radius with a power blast.
About the enemies: the big one is TransFatula, an energy sucking vampire made of globulous heaps of gelatinous yellow goo. He's the Big Boss of the game, and no one gets a shot at him until once, at the end of each of 18 levels. It's really a cool game, so I'm hoping to get some friends behind it who know a thing or two about development.
